D-backs select Andy Marte, recall Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A Reno

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected infielder Andy Marte and recalled outfielder Roger Kieschnick from Triple-A Reno, as announced by D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Marte, 30, will wear No. 28 in his first Major League stint with the D-backs. In 102 games with Triple-A Reno this season, he batted .330 (124-for-376) with 26 doubles, 13 home runs and 62 RBI. Marte led the team in batting average (min. 60 games), hits, home runs, total bases (193) and runs scored (59).

Marte signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on Dec. 20, 2013. In 6 Major League seasons between the Braves (2005) and Indians (2006-10), he hit .218 (183-for-838) with 45 doubles, 20 home runs and 96 RBI in 302 career games. Marte was selected to the MLB All-Star Futures Game from 2003-04, and was rated by Baseball America as the No. 1 Prospect in the Braves (2004-05) and Red Sox (2006) organizations while garnering Best Defensive Third Baseman accolades in his respective leagues from 2002-06.

Kieschnick, 27, has played in 19 games for the D-backs and is hitting .207 (6-for-29) with a double, home run and 2 RBI over 2 stints (from April 24-30 & June 16-July 11). In 74 games for Reno, he has batted .268 (76-for-284) with 20 doubles, 2 triples, 11 homers and 34 RBI. He most recently went 1-for-3 with a walk on July 30 @ Fresno.

The D-backs' 40-man roster is now at 36.
