Jackie Robinson Day

Wednesday, April 15

Following Major League Baseball's announcement and newly updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) restricting events of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks, the opening of the 2020 regular season will be pushed back in accordance with that guidance.

We are currently working to reschedule this event to a later date and will communicate all updates as they become available.

About Jackie Robinson Day

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson broke Baseball's color barrier when he made his historic MLB debut. Every year on April 15, Baseball honors Jackie's legacy by celebrating his life, values and accomplishments. The extensive and unified League-wide show of support has included retiring Jackie's number throughout the Majors in 1997; dedicating April 15 as Jackie Robinson Day each year since 2004; and requesting that every player and all on-field personnel wear his No. 42 during games scheduled on Jackie Robinson Day since 2009.

Jackie Robinson Field Dedication – Litchfield Park, Jackie Robinson Field

The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation’s youth field-building program, supported by APS, dedicated the 42nd Diamonds Back Field in the name of Jackie Robinson in Litchfield Park on Friday, June 21, 2019. Dozens of Little Leaguers helped Baxter unveil the scoreboard while wearing No. 42 shirts. We were honored to have Dr. Charles Williams, nephew of the late Hall of Famer, share a few words about what the field meant to the family. In 2019, Jackie Robinson would have turned 100 years old and has been celebrated league-wide to honor his legacy.
