Marlins announce 2014 Spring Training invitees

Pitchers & Catchers first workout on Feb. 16; First Full-Squad workout on Feb. 20

The Miami Marlins today announced that they have extended Spring Training invitations to 22 non-roster players. The announcement was made by Marlins President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

The Marlins have signed six players to minor league free agent contracts with invitations to Spring Training: right-handed pitchers Jesus Sanchez and Kevin Slowey; left-handed pitcher Josh Spence; infielder Juan Diaz; outfielders Matt Angle and Joe Benson.

The following 16 organizational players were extended Spring Training invitations: right-handed pitchers Anthony DeSclafani, Bryan Evans, Colby Suggs, Rett Varner and Nick Wittgren; left-handed pitchers Adam Conley, Andrew Heaney, James Leverton, Greg Nappo and Justin Nicolino; catchers Austin Barnes and Kyle Skipworth; infielders Danny Black, Mark Canha, Colin Moran and Austin Nola.

Marlins' Spring Training headquarters will be based at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Fla. Pitchers and catchers will hold their first workout on Feb. 16, and the first full-squad workout will be Feb. 20.

As of today's announcement, the Marlins will have 62 players in Major League Spring Training camp.
