SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres have acquired left-handed pitcher Ray Kerr and outfielder Corey Rosier from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for infielder Adam Frazier, President of Baseball Operations & General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.

Kerr, 27, went 2-1 with five saves and a 3.18 ERA (14 ER, 39.2 IP), 1.06 WHIP, .184 opponents average and 60 strikeouts (13.61 SO/9.0 IP) in 36 appearances between double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma last season. He was selected to the Mariners’ 40-man roster on November 19th. The Sacramento, Calif. native played collegiately at Mendocino College (2014) and Lassen Community College (2016-17) before being signed as a non-drafted free agent by Seattle on August 22, 2017. In 98 career minor league games (36 starts), Kerr has posted an 11-19 record with a 3.91 ERA (106 ER, 244.0 IP). He represented the Mariners on the Peoria Javelina’s roster in the 2019 Arizona Fall League (6 G, 1.93 ERA, 2 ER, 9.1 IP), but did not play during the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rosier batted .380 (46-for-121) with a .451 OBP, 1.022 OPS, eight doubles, three triples, three home runs, 23 RBI, 18 walks and 13 stolen bases in 32 games between the ACL Mariners and Single-A Modesto in 2021. He appeared in 27 games in center field and committed just one error in 56 total chances (.982 fielding %). The 22-year-old left-handed hitter was a 12th-round selection by Seattle in the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina Greensboro. In college, he was named to the 2021 All-Southern Conference First Team and led the SoCon with 75 hits and four triples. He also tied for the SoCon lead in runs (59) and RBI (51) while finishing 2nd in total bases (128), 5th in stolen bases (17) and OBP (.604), T-6th in HR (12), and 7th in batting average (.354).
