Why can I no longer watch Padres baseball on Bally Sports San Diego?

Major League Baseball will take over production and distribution of all local San Diego Padres games starting on Wednesday, May 31, due to Bally Sports San Diego failing to perform under its contract with the Padres.

Which cable, satellite, and streaming providers carry Padres games in the San Diego market? Can I watch if I have YouTube TV or Sling?

In-market fans can watch on DirecTV (channel 694-3), Spectrum (channel 305), AT&T U-Verse (channel 781), Cox (Yurview channel 4), Fubo, and on MLB.TV. YouTube TV and Sling do not offer Padres games at this time.

Why did my channel numbers change for Padres baseball?

Channel numbers have been updated due to a change in distribution from Bally Sports San Diego to MLB.

As a cable/satellite subscriber, will I be able to watch Padres games on an app?

If you were watching Padres games on the Bally Sports App, that will no longer be available. Please work with your cable or satellite provider for more information about streaming, or follow the instructions below:

Cox Customers:

  1. Download Contour TV App at Apple App Store or Google Play for Android
  2. Log into the Contour App with Cox credentials.
  3. Select Live TV (for the TVE lineup go to ā€œFiltersā€, then select ā€œAvailable out of homeā€)
  4. Scroll to channel 4 - YurView
  5. Select channel and click on San Diego Padres game
  6. Choose ā€œwatchā€ to immediately view game
Spectrum Customers:

  1. Download Spectrum TV App at Apple App Store or Google Play for Android
  2. Enter your credentials to log in
  3. Select Live TV and select the Padres channel
DirectTV Customers:

What talent will be broadcasting and calling the games on the new MLB broadcast?

The Padres primary TV broadcasters – Don Orsillo, Mark Grant and Bob Scanlan – will continue to serve in their existing roles. 97.3 The Fan’s radio team remains in place with Jesse Agler and Tony Gwynn Jr. calling games from the booth.

These changes will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

We do not anticipate any changes to existing service providers for the 2024 season and will provide updates with potential additions prior to the start of the 2024 season.

Can MLB.TV All Teams Subscribers Watch Padres games on MLB.TV in the San Diego area?

Only users that have specifically purchased the 2023 Single Team Padres Package subscription will be able to stream Padres games in the San Diego area. MLB.TV All Teams subscribers will not have access and will need to purchase the Single Team Padres Package in addition to the All Teams Package in order to stream Padres games on MLB.TV in the San Diego area.

If I’m a Padres Season Ticket Member with MLB.TV, what does this mean for me?

Padres Season Ticket Members receive a free MLB.TV All Teams Subscription as a membership benefit. However, only users that specifically purchase the 2023 Single Team Padres Package subscription will be able to stream Padres games in the San Diego area. Members need to add-on this package. Members should not enable their free MLB.TV All Teams subscription to watch Padres home games. Instead, they should subscribe to the new Single Team Padres package.

MLB.TV Blackout Policy

By offering a direct-to-consumer streaming option on MLB.TV in the Club’s territory for the first time, MLB is able to lift the blackout for Padres games previously distributed on Bally Sports San Diego. Due to certain Major League Baseball national exclusivities, select regular season, special event, and Postseason games are unavailable on MLB.TV domestically and internationally. Live audio of the games that are unavailable is available to customers within ā€œAt Bat,ā€ which is included with all MLB.TV subscriptions.
