The lefty has experienced a sharp drop in his fastball velocity in the second half, and the Padres have lost all six of his starts since the break. Lucchesi's fastball sat 91-92 mph in the first half, but it averaged just 88.8 mph in his last start.

Bauer allowed 9 ER over 4 1/3 innings in a 17-7 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday. Eight runs came with one out in the fifth. Bauer said that he couldn't succeed with any of the six pitches in his repertoire, and didn't believe that he was tipping his pitches.
