PIRATES BASEBALL SUMMER CAMPS CURRICULUM

CAMP CURRICULUM

At Pirates Baseball Summer Camps, we share one ultimate goal: every drill, swing, throw and eye-popping young fan experience is designed to unlock your child's love of the game. The Pirates Baseball Summer Camps curriculum is designed to accommodate all levels of youth baseball players. From young beginners to travel-team participants, and every player in between. Our curriculum creates small group instruction to teach and reinforce baseball-specific skills. Over the course of the week, our curriculum builds upon itself to expose young players to new skills, while simultaneously reinforcing the very fundamentals we've taught throughout the week.

Our objective is to build skills and fundamentals on the field and character and leadership off the field. We believe that summer is a unique time to expand your young ballplayer's comfort zone and build new skills. It's a time for exploration and fun. We're dedicated to achieving this through the power of play and a connection to the team and sport our ballplayers love. Our activities target six critical developmental areas - emotional mastery, optimism, resiliency, self-efficacy, goal setting and determination - all aimed at inspiring each ballplayer's personal best and love of the game.

AGE LEVELS

Young athletes perform best when they feel confident and comfortable. For that reason, we divide our camp into five age-appropriate levels. Each level teaches a unique set of skills and encourages its own level of competition. This also ensures that ballplayers get a new Pirates Baseball Summer Camps experience each year!

Our youngest ballplayers work on the fundamentals of the game while using competitions and fun-filled activities to keep them engaged and excited. Our staff is constantly working to create new and exciting activities that speak to a young ballplayer's spark while meeting them where they are in their baseball journey

As our ballplayers get older, they are likely involved in several different sports and activities. We know that any one of these hobbies could one day become their center of interest. Our coaches strive to use baseball to teach lifelong lessons that will translate to anything your child decides to pursue in life.

For ballplayers maturing alongside the game of baseball, our curriculum shifts to focus on introducing proper pitching mechanics as many of our ballplayers transition to "player-pitch" in their leagues. In the batter's box, we place a strong focus on seeing the pitch out of the pitcher's hand to emphasize early pitch recognition.

To match the evolving love of the game with increased baseball experience, we look to speed up the game of baseball for our older ballplayers. We increase the pace of play with unique, modified versions of the game of baseball - making the game more exciting to keep ballplayers engaged from the first pitch to last pitch.

For our highest age level, our coaching staff works to improve specific areas of your child's game. Our coaches utilize their baseball expertise to take your ballplayer's unique game to the next level, from mastering the intricacies of a position to learning somewhere new on the field. Our goal is to give your child the necessary tools to succeed outside of camp.
