Full name is Jarren William Duran...Played three seasons as a second baseman at California State University, Long Beach (2016-18)...Left school ranked fourth in program history with 49 steals...Earned second Team All-Big West honors in 2017...In 2018, led the conference in steals (17) and led LBSU in hits (67) and runs (42). Graduated in 2015 from Cypress High School in Calif.

2024

Led the Red Sox in games (160), runs (111), hits (191), XBH (83), doubles (48), triples (14) and steals (34)...Made his first career Opening Day roster and started each of the Sox’ first 117 games (160 starts total)...Earned his first career All-Star Game selection (player vote) and was named All-Star Game MVP...Named Red Sox MVP by the BBWAA Boston Chapter...Ranked fifth in the Majors in bWAR (8.7) and seventh in fWAR (6.7)...Is one of only nine Red Sox position players ever to record a bWAR of 8.7 or higher in a season (also Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Rico Petrocelli, Fred Lynn, Wade Boggs and Mookie Betts)...Ranked second in MLB with 23 defensive runs saved...Led MLB outfielders in assists (12) and innings played (1,421.1)...Ranked in MLB’s 95th percentile in range (11 outs above average)...Made 89 starts in CF and 71 in LF...Led MLB in doubles (48) and tied for the lead in triples (14, most in AL)...Became the first player to lead both leagues in doubles and triples since Lou Brock in 1968...The only other AL players ever to do so are Bobby Veach (1919) and Ty Cobb (1917) (source: Elias)...Also led the Majors with 735 PA, the most by a Red Sox player since Mo Vaughn in 1996 (752) and the ninth most in a season in franchise history...Was 34-for-41 in steal attempts (82.9%)...Joined Jacoby Ellsbury (2011) and Mookie Betts (2018) as the only Sox to record 30+ steals and 80+ XBH in a season.

Played in a career-high 102 games and posted a .295/.346/.482/.828 line (34 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR)...Missed the last 38 games due to a left great toe sprain...Underwent a successful left great toe flexor tendon repair on 8/30, performed by Dr. Robert Anderson at the Charlotte Surgical Center in Charlotte, N.C...Led the Red Sox in steals (24-for-26), the second-highest success rate in club history (see table on previous page)...Led the Red Sox and ranked in MLB’s 96th percentile in sprint speed (29.5 ft./second)...Appeared defensively in CF (75 G, 62 GS), LF (27 G, 20 GS) and RF (1 G)...In 35 PA when leading off the first inning, hit .412 with a 1.105 OPS (14-for-34, BB, 4 2B, 3B, HR)...Batted .333 as a pinch hitter (5-for-15, 3 2B, BB)...Recorded three games with three-plus doubles, tied for the most in a season in Red Sox history (also Mike Lowell in 2006)...The only Sox with two such games in a season are Babe Ruth (1918), Dwight Evans (1980), Wade Boggs (1991), Victor Martinez (2010) and Rafael Devers (2019).

Played in 58 ML games over four stints with BOS, hitting .221 (45-for-204) with 23 runs scored, 14 2B, three 3B, three HR and 17 RBI...Was 7-for-8 in stolen base attempts. Appeared defensively in CF (48 GS) and RF (5 GS)... Also made one start at DH. Led the Red Sox and ranked in MLB’s 93rd percentile in sprint speed (29.2 feet/second). Batted .370 (10-for-27) with two HR on the first pitch. In his 54 starts with BOS, batted leadoff 39 times and either eighth or ninth 15 times. Also played in 68 games for Triple-A Worcester, batting .283 with an .840 OPS (79-for-279, 16 2B, 6 3B, 10 HR)... Started 58 games in CF, five in LF, two in RF and three at DH. Tied for Worcester’s team lead with 18 stolen bases.

2021

2020

Entering his fourth professional season, his second in Major League Spring Training camp...Following the 2020 season, played in 23 games (regular season and postseason) for Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League, batting .250 with a .392 OBP and 8 steals (20-for-80, 22 R, 17 RBI, 17 BB)…Named MVP of the championship series, helping Caguas win the title. Also was named a Caribbean Series All-Star after helping lead Puerto Rico to the title game...Played in seven games and went 10-for-25 (.400) with a .500 OBP, seven runs scored, three steals and three XBH.

2019

Hit .303 (157-for-519) with 24 2B, 8 3B, and 46 stolen bases between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland...Named Red Sox Minor League Base Runner of the Year...His 46 steals led Red Sox minor leaguers and ranked 8th among all of Minor League Baseball...Also led Sox minor leaguers in hits (157), runs (90), and triples (tied, 8)...Named by Baseball America the High Class A Player of the Year and a High Class A All-Star...Tabbed a Carolina League mid-season All-Star...Also named CL Player of the Week for 5/12-18...Played in the 2019 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game...Played in 24 games for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League and was selected to the Fall Stars Game...Opened the season with High-A Salem and hit safely in 40 of his 50 games with the club, including in 16 straight from 5/7-24...Named Carolina League Player of the Week for 5/12- 18 after hitting .458 (11-for-24) in 6 games...Was leading all of Minor League Baseball in AVG (.387) and OBP (.456) at the time he was promoted to Double-A Portland on 6/3, and was hitting .404 through 5/30...After batting .208 in his first 41 games with the Sea Dogs, went 47-for-161 (.292) in his final 41 games from 7/21 through the end of the season...Played in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on 7/7 at Progressive Field...Entered in the 6th inning as a pinch hitter and remained in the game as a DH (1-for-2, SB)...Recorded a 12-game hitting streak with Portland from 7/21-8/2 (.423 AVG, 22-for-52)...Following the regular season, played in 24 games for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League and hit .267 (24- for-90) with 9 RBI and 7 stolen bases.
