Made his ML debut despite having never played a game at the Triple-A level...Appeared in 34 games with Boston, making 27 starts in LF and 3 in CF...Also hit .312 (116-for-372) with a .910 OPS in 97 games between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland. Earned the Greg Montalbano Minor League Player of the Year award from the Boston chapter of the BBWAA. Following the season, ranked by Baseball America as the Red Sox' No. 1 prospect, as well as the organization's best hitter for average and as having the best strike zone discipline...Also named to the Baseball America Minor League All-Star Second Team following the season. Ranked T-3rd in the Sox organization in HR (11), averaging a homer every 18.0 AB...Drew 35 BB against only 24 SO. Following the season, ranked by Baseball America as the No. 3 prospect in the Red Sox organization and the No. 1 prospect in the New York-Penn League...Also rated by Baseball America as the best defensive OF and as having the best strike zone discipline in the Sox' system...Named a Short-Season All-Star by BA. Made 49 starts in CF and 5 at DH, recording 6 assists with a .992 fielding percentage (1 E/131 TC). Hit .322 vs. RHP (23-for-60, 9 HR) and .283 vs. LHP (13-for-46, 2 HR). Named Red Sox Minor League Hitter of the Month for August/September, posting a .359/.430/.602 batting line in that time (33 G, 46-for-128, 25 R, 6 2B, 2 3B, 7 HR, 21 RBI, 16 BB). During his time with Greenville, ranked 5th in the SAL in OPS (1.011).
