ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Tampa Bay Rays, in conjunction with Nike, are hosting a free event on Thursday, May 2 at the St. Pete Pier to celebrate the release of the Grit x Glow Nike MLB City Connect uniform.

The uniforms showcase the connection to the community and pay homage to Tampa Bay’s deeply rooted counterculture scenes in skate, street art, streetwear, tattoo and music. The logos include a skateboarding stingray, a pelican, and the fan-favorite SkyRay that combines the team’s ray with the local Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The City Connect Celebration on May 2 is from 5-10 p.m. at the St. Pete Pier. While shopping for merchandise, fans can enjoy a skateboarding demonstration, local bands and a live artist installation.

Multiple Tampa Bay Rays players will be present for photo opportunities. There will also be interactive games, food trucks and themed photo stations for fans of all ages to enjoy.

One of the most anticipated moments of the event will be when the uniform logos are displayed in the sky around 9:30 p.m. with a City Connect-themed drone show. This event is free to the public and tickets are not required.
