Frequently Asked Questions

I haven't touched a baseball in 30 years and am afraid I will make a fool of myself.

This is the single biggest concern we have amongst new campers. We can't stress enough that there is no pre-requisite for experience, talent or physical prowess. The camp is meant to be fun, and we have campers of all ages and abilities. We only require that you enjoy the game of baseball and the Red Sox.

Do most people attend with a friend or attend on their own?

We have a great mix of attendees. We have friends coming down together, father/son combinations, co-workers, etc. In addition, we have many campers (almost 75%) who come down completely on their own. If you do happen to come alone, there are many opportunities to meet and socialize with other campers, and many new lifelong friendships have been started at camp.

Do I need a rental car?

Transportation is provided to/from the Airport and the Hotel, as well as the Hotel and the ballpark each day. It is not necessary to rent a car and is entirely up to you if you decide to do so.

What is the average age of a camper?

The minimum age to attend camp is 30 years old. Our campers range in age from 30 - 78 years old. Regardless of age, each camper has the same opportunity to play.

What equipment do I need for camp?

We provide a full authentic home and road Red Sox uniform. We also provide all bats, helmets, catchers gear and other general baseball equipment. Each camper should bring their own glove, cleats and any accessories they may want for the week (sunglasses, batting gloves, etc).

Are there photographers available to capture the week's events?

Yes. We have professional photographers on site throughout the week to capture the events. Photos will be available for purchase both at the camp and afterward.

Are family and friends allowed at camp?

Yes. Friends, family and fans alike are allowed to attend all games free of charge. If you wish to have your family member or friend attend the functions, these are available at an additional charge and can be purchased on an individual basis or through a spectator package which includes access to all events, as well as other special amenities.

What is the Fantasy Camp Reunion game?

All campers are invited to take part in a reunion game at Fenway Park during the 2019 season. This is an additional charge, but includes a ticket to a Red Sox game, and the opportunity to play a game at Fenway Park the following day. See the Fenway Reunion tab for more detail on this exclusive opportunity.

What kind of physical shape should I be in for camp?

We recommend that every camper try to be in the best shape possible to ensure their Fantasy Camp experience is enjoyed to its fullest. That said, we realize that nobody attending is a professional athlete, so Olympic training ahead of time is in no way required. We also have the Red Sox professional training staff on site to help with any injuries or sore muscles that may result from a week at camp.

Testimonials

"I have been wanting to come to the Red Sox Fantasy Camp for about 8 years. My lovely wife and children gave this wonderful opportunity to me last May for my Birthday. As you can imagine, my expectations and imagination of what it was going to be like were very high. As I was traveling to Fort Myers I kept telling myself to be realistic. I didn't need to the camp was everything I had imagined and more. The former players and coaches were all wonderful and very helpful. I was fortunate to have Frank Viola and Keith Foulke as my manager and coach and it was awesome. Two wonderful gentleman who were very gracious. This was truly one of the best week's I have had. Hat's off to the staff specifically Susie who was there to make sure your every concern or need was taken care of. Outstanding Week, Outstanding Organization, and Outstanding People."

- Daniel Ward

"In 2013, I came to my first Red Sox fantasy camp. It was going to be a one and done. Year 3 will come to a close tomorrow and 2016 is already a given. I never belonged to a fraternity when I went to college but I have one now. The campers that I now count as close friends grows every year. The big leaguers who have been out in the cages at 7am to help when you feel lost and struggling and my coaches who have shared countless bits of advice and, even better, stories from the show have made the experience something that I will do as long as I'm physically able."

- Daryll Doda

"This was my second year at camp. I did not think anything could have improved on last year, but you did it! Outstanding experience, can't wait to come back next year. Great to see old friends and meet new ones. Facilities are top notch. Camp is well organized and was truly an awesome experience!"

- Bruce Farmer

"I'm a 15 year veteran camper and keep returning because the fantasy camp experience is truly 'the real deal' due to the devotion and professionalism of the Red Sox staff and former players devoted to the common goal of creating a week that will provide pleasant everlasting memories. The majority of campers are returning veterans for a reason; Red Sox Fantasy Camp offers an authentic big league experience unlike any other!"

- Roy Kaplan

"This is an amazing way to understand the 'reality' behind the game of baseball. Been a 'player' for a week gave me the opportunity to live, breathe and dream baseball. Gave a different perspective for the game, and increase the respect for players, coaches and staff.

"As a rookie camper, was an AMAZING experience… it's like Disney for people that love baseball… and as a rookie I already felt like home… sharing with others campers, pros and staff that made this week a very special one… just one week disconnected from 'real' world… just living a dream of being a baseball player…"
