In Star Wars lingo, "jumping to hyperspace" means traveling through the cosmos at an incredibly high rate of speed.
It's only fitting that Randy Guzman did his best to send a ball off his bat into another galaxy far, far away on Star Wars Night at Clover Park.
The Mets' No. 23 prospect launched a 117.6 mph homer over the left-field fence in his first at-bat during Single-A St. Lucie's matchup with Jupiter on Saturday night.
According to Statcast, the frozen rope was the hardest-hit ball recorded in the Florida State League this season and the fourth-hardest across the Majors, Triple-A and the FSL. Pittsburgh's Oneil Cruz (119 mph) and Houston's Yordan Alvarez (117.8 mph) take the honors in the bigs, while Emmanuel Rodriguez (MIN No. 4/MLB No. 54) obliterated a baseball at 118.3 mph for Triple-A St. Paul.
Statcast technology has been equipped in the Florida State League dating back to the 2021 season. Guzman's wallop accounts for the third-hardest-hit ball in that span behind a pair of home runs from Tony Blanco Jr. (PIT No. 27) last year.
Guzman's homer came off the bat with just a 16-degree launch angle. There has been no over-the-wall homer hit at the Major League level at that mark or lower since Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did so for the Blue Jays on Sept. 3, 2025.
COMPLETE METS PROSPECT COVERAGE
While Guzman doesn't draw a massive amount of attention in prospect circles, he's no stranger to essentially ripping the cover off the ball. The 21-year-old now has two of the three hardest-hit balls in the FSL in 2026, eclipsing his previous high of 115.6 mph on a lineout he ripped on May 8.
Those hard hits are starting to transform Guzman into a menacing power threat at the plate. The Dominican Republic native is currently second in the FSL with eight roundtrippers, two behind Lakeland's Zach MacDonald (DET). Guzman entered Saturday's action with an .816 OPS, 14 extra-base hits and 22 RBIs in 35 games for St. Lucie.

Signed as a free agent in 2022, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder impressed during his stateside debut last season. After tearing up the Rookie-level Florida Complex League, Guzman moved up to St. Lucie and hit even better, albeit in a smaller sample size.
The first-baseman/outfielder slashed .333/.381/.604 with 18 extra-base hits, 24 RBIs and held an average exit velo of 108.5 mph in 26 games in the FSL in 2025.
