Red Sox reschedule White House visit to May

January 25th, 2019

The Red Sox have moved their White House visit to May 9, a team spokesperson confirmed on Friday.
"After consulting with the White House and Major League Baseball, the Red Sox have rescheduled their visit to the nation's capital to May 9 when the club is in Baltimore," the spokesperson told MLB.com's Ian Browne.
The World Series champions had been scheduled to make their trip to the White House on Feb. 15 at the beginning of Spring Training, but due to the federal government shutdown they've postponed it until just after a May regular-season series against the Orioles.
The Red Sox play the Orioles from May 6-8 at Camden Yards, then have a scheduled off-day on May 9 before they return home to host the Mariners at Fenway Park. Per the club statement, they'll visit the White House on the off-day.
