Our hero! Prospect nicknamed 'Captain America' comes to aid of fainting child

July 1st, 2026

On the cusp of his nation's 250th birthday, Captain America saved the day.

That would be Walker Jenkins, the top prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization and No. 14 on MLB's Top 100 Prospects list, whose Captain America nickname was bestowed upon him by former Twins' player Michael Cuddyer. This heroic moniker was inspired by the 2023 first-round Draft pick's baseball acumen and obsessive work ethic, but on Tuesday it turned out that it applied to talents beyond the ballfield as well.

The action began as Jenkins and his teammates on the Triple-A St. Paul Saints were standing alongside local youths in the shallow outfield grass as the national anthem was sung prior to a game against the visiting Buffalo Bisons (TOR). A young fan named Lincoln, situated to Jenkins' right, seemed to have a fainting spell. As Lincoln stumbled and was on the verge of falling over, Jenkins sprang into action. He scooped Lincoln up in his arms as his concerned teammates looked on, carrying him off the field and handing him to Saints lead athletic trainer Chase Thompson near the first-base dugout.

The Saints shared the video of Jenkins' outfield save on Wednesday afternoon, writing, "Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear a #23 Saints jersey." They also posted a picture of Lincoln giving a thumbs-up while wearing -- what else? -- a new Walker Jenkins #23 Saints T-shirt.

Captain America went on to contribute in Tuesday evening's ballgame as well, going 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, an RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base as the Saints cruised to a 12-6 win over the Bisons. All in a day's work for Minor League Baseball's newest superhero.
