Kaeden Kent hit five doubles in 27 games in May. Just five games into June, Kent is close to matching the mark after a four-hit night Saturday for High-A Hudson Valley.
The Yankees’ No. 13 prospect per MLB Pipeline produced three doubles and seven total bases to move his batting average above .300 (.303) and add to his South Atlantic League-leading 67 hits. Over his last nine contests, Kent has 16 hits, with seven being for extra bases. Despite Kent’s efforts, the Renegades fell to the Frederick Keys, the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, 8-6.
The son of newly elected Hall of Famer Jeff Kent was drafted out of Texas A&M by New York in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft. He became a star in his own right in college by helping the Aggies to the 2024 College World Series Final with a grand slam in the Super Regionals and a batting average over .400 in the national tournament.

Since then, Kent has found a groove in professional baseball mostly by playing around the infield. He’s played 31 games at shortstop in 2026 but also mixed in 18 at second base and two at the hot corner. The 22-year-old is one of just three Yankees’ Minor Leaguers with a batting average over .300 currently.
Kent’s father played for six organizations over a 17-year MLB career, slugging the most home runs by a second baseman all time. With four home runs on the year, Kent isn’t showing that type of power yet, though he’s dominated High-A at the plate this season.
