Club Recalls Infielder Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox today placed first baseman Triston Casas on the 10-Day Injured List (retroactive to September 15) with right shoulder inflammation. To fill Casas’ spot on the active roster, the club recalled infielder Bobby Dalbec from Triple-A Worcester.

Casas, 23, has batted .263 (113-for-429) with a .367 on-base percentage, .857 OPS, 21 doubles, two triples, 24 home runs, 60 RBI, and 70 walks in 132 games for the Red Sox this season. The left-handed hitter ranks sixth in the American League and first among AL rookies in OPS, while also leading AL rookies in walks and ranking second in home runs. Selected by Boston in the first round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the Florida native has hit .253 (128-for-505) with 29 home runs and 89 RBI in 159 career Major League games (2022-23).

Dalbec, 28, has played in 10 games with Boston this season, going 2-for-12 while appearing in four games at first base, two as the designated hitter, and one game each at second base, third base, and shortstop. The right-handed hitter is tied for the International League lead with 33 home runs and ranks third in slugging percentage (.557), batting .269 (111-for-413) with a .938 OPS, 14 doubles, three triples, 82 runs scored, and 79 RBI in 114 games with Worcester. Selected by the Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Colorado native has hit .231 (191-for-826) with 33 doubles, seven triples, 45 home runs, and 133 RBI in 283 career Major League games (2020-23).
