BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated right-handed pitcher Chris Martin from the 15-Day Injured List. To make room for Martin on the active roster, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Kaleb Ort to Triple-A Worcester following yesterday’s game.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Martin, 36, was placed on the 15-Day Injured List on April 16 (retroactive to April 13) with right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander made a rehab appearance for Worcester on Friday, pitching the sixth inning and allowing two hits and two unearned runs. He was signed by Boston as a free agent on December 8, 2022.

The right-hander owns a 6.59 ERA (30 ER/41.0 IP) in 38 career appearances, all with Boston (2021-23). He was selected by the Red Sox in the Triple-A phase of the 2020 Rule 5 Draft from the New York Yankees.
