GLENDALE, Ariz.-- White Sox third-base prospect Jake Burger sustained an injury to his left Achilles tendon while running out a ground ball in the bottom of the third inning of a 7-6 Cactus League win over the A's on Monday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.
The White Sox said Burger's status will be updated on Tuesday. Burger went to the ground hard on the first-base line and held his left leg. He was attended to briefly, then helped onto a cart unable to put weight on the left leg.
Burger, the White Sox No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was one of the bright spots in the first few days of play. He doubled in two at-bats before the injury and was hitting .286. Burger tripled against the Mariners on Saturday.

The White Sox selected Burger with the 11th overall pick last summer after a career at Missoui State in which he was one of the best power hitters in college baseball. He hit 43 home runs in his final two collegiate seasons and was the first Missouri State player taken in the first round. He received a $3.7 million bonus and added to a White Sox Minor League system flush with prospects.
The 21-year-old hit .263 with two triples, five home runs and 10 doubles in 51 games at Rookie League and Class A Kannapolis last season. He was invited to Major League camp to help speed his comfort level.
