Yankees No. 6 prospect Jones goes deep twice in first multi-homer game of 2026

April 29th, 2026

It took a short while to begin 2026, but is now back to crushing the ball in a way few others can.

The Yankees’ No. 6 prospect hammered two home runs for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday night, his first multi-homer outing of the young season, in a 9-6 win over Buffalo at PNC Field. He had five such performances in 2025.

The 24-year-old lefty's first got out in a hurry, a 106.3 mph line drive that just snuck over the right-field wall. His second fell more in the “moonshot” category, going 424 feet to dead center with a 107.1 mph exit velocity.

Jones’ homers were also timely. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a long ball, responding to a five-run top half by Buffalo. His second then came in the bottom of the eighth, adding some insurance with the game’s final tally.

Those homers sandwiched a line-drive single in the second inning that also scored two runs. In total, Jones finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a pair of strikeouts.

Tuesday helped Jones raise his OPS back above .900 (.902, to be exact) on a .242/.364/.538 overall slash line. His homers were his first since April 18, though seven of his last 10 hits have gone for extra bases. That 65-grade power is certainly showing for the 6-foot-7 outfielder, who keeps knocking on the door of the Major Leagues.
