They’re the only five Minor Leaguers across the past two seasons to achieve a 20-home-run, 40-stolen-base season. The first four names are all either in MLB or on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100, while Huezo has flown a bit under the radar after being a 12th-round selection in 2023.
Huezo reached the mark last Wednesday with his 20th homer, but he whacked two more long balls since, including one amid a three-hit performance Sunday in a 7-2 loss for High-A Asheville against Frederick at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
Huezo’s three-hit night included a leadoff double, another double and a run scored in the sixth and his home run in the seventh -- a deep drive to right-center field. It was Huezo’s third home run in his past four games, bringing him to 22 on the season.
Despite it being his third full season in the Minor Leagues, Huezo is still just 20 years old, and he’s enjoyed a breakout season in his healthiest year yet. The outfielder has played 104 games across two levels, hitting .262 with a .859 OPS, including 22 homers, 72 RBIs and 43 stolen bases. In those numbers is a 33-game stretch at High-A -- his longest exposure to the level -- in which he has a .865 OPS.

There are swing-and-miss concerns in Huezo’s profile, but his combination of 55-grade power with 55-grade speed is intriguing. And it’s hard to ignore seeing his name among the big-time prospects who have also reached 20-40 over the past calendar year.
