Correa earns AL Player of Week honors

August 15th, 2016

Astros shortstop has been named American League Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Correa hit safely in all seven of the Astros' games last week, batting .429/.467/.857 with three doubles, three home runs and an AL-leading 12 RBIs.
Correa's big day came in Thursday's doubleheader sweep of the Twins, in which he combined to go 4-for-8 with two homers and four RBIs. He became the first Astro to homer in both games of a doubleheader since Luis Gonzalez on Aug. 10, 1993, and the youngest Astro to do so since Rusty Staub on Sept. 19, 1965.
Correa is one of four Astros to win weekly awards this season, the most of any team in 2016. It's also the second time Houston has had five weekly winners (2008; Lance Berkman twice, Carlos Lee, Ty Wigginton and Roy Oswalt).
