The Astros and right-handed reliever Chris Devenski agreed on a one-year contract for 2019, with a club option for '20, the team announced on Monday.
The club did not disclose the terms of the deal. A source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that Devenski will make $1.525 million in 2019, and the club option is worth $2.625 million.
The base amount in the club option can increase to $2.725 million if Devenski appears in 50 games in '19, to $2.825 million if he appears in 60 games or to $2.925 million if he appears in 68 games, according to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal, who was first to report the deal.
Devenski, 28, had asked for $1.65 million in his first year of arbitration eligibility, and the Astros offered $1.4 million prior to the settlement to avoid arbitration.
Devenski had a breakout season in 2017, posting a 2.68 ERA (153 ERA+) and 32 percent strikeout rate in 62 appearances for Houston. He didn't have that type of success last year, finishing with a 4.18 ERA in 50 appearances.
