George Lombard Jr., the Yankees' No. 1 prospect, departed Tuesday's game for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with an apparent injury.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lombard attempted to field a one-hop throw from rehabbing catcher Austin Wells on a stolen-base attempt at second base. As Lombard reached to corral the throw, the runner -- Bo Naylor of the Columbus Clippers -- slid directly into Lombard's left hand, knocking the glove off it.
Lombard clasped both hands together and doubled over on the infield grass in pain. He appeared to be looking at his left hand.

Lombard initially stayed in the game to finish the inning. But when the RailRiders took the field in the bottom of the fifth, Kenedy Corona replaced Lombard at shortstop. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre went on to claim a 3-1 victory at Huntington Park.
The 21-year-old Lombard finishes the night hitting .258 with an .833 OPS across 62 Minor League games this season between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He is the No. 18 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline.
