You'll need a microscope to see Kade Anderson's ERA after his latest start

May 2nd, 2026

In recent years, the Mariners have cultivated a bevy of powerful arms at the Major League level from within -- Bryan Woo, Logan Gilbert and George Kirby among them.

Now the organization appears to be developing another potent arm in MLB’s No. 17 prospect Kade Anderson.

Seattle’s No. 2 prospect was brilliant on Friday night, tossing 5 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing just four hits, walking none and striking out eight while helping Double-A Arkansas to a 5-1 victory over Wichita at Equity Bank Park.

Anderson was especially impressive during his final stretch. The southpaw allowed only one of the final nine batters he faced to reach base, including five strikeouts.

In total, MLB’s No. 3 left-handed pitching prospect generated 16 whiffs on 43 swings (37.2 percent). He remained efficient, throwing 75.7 percent of his pitches for strikes.

That effectiveness has been a calling card for Anderson throughout his career. During his senior season at LSU, the 2025 Golden Spikes semifinalist posted a 7.3 percent walk rate in 119 innings en route to being selected third overall last July. This year with Arkansas, Anderson has issued just four walks in 24 1/3 innings, giving him a 38/4 K/BB ratio.

Anderson hasn’t just been one of the best pitchers in Double-A this year, but one of the best in all of the Minors. Among all qualified arms, Anderson’s 0.37 ERA ranks first, while his .398 opponent OPS checks in at third. Opposing Texas League hitters are batting just .157.
