Caleb Bonemer belted 11 homers in the first month of the 2026 season. It turns out that wasn't an aberration.
MLB's No. 16 prospect continued his power-packed campaign by mashing a pair of moonshots in Double-A Birmingham's 7-6 loss to Montgomery at Regions Field on Saturday. The performance was Bonemer's fifth with three or more knocks this season and raised his home run total to 21 -- the most among White Sox prospects.
One step further, Bonemer and Colson Montgomery (who delivered his own clutch homer Saturday) are the only players in Chicago's entire organization with 21 or more homers. Not only that, but Bonemer's multihomer outburst -- his first at Double-A -- vaulted the White Sox No. 1 prospect into rare air among Minor League sluggers as he became just the third player age 20 or younger to eclipse 20 homers this season.

Bonemer came out swinging right from the jump. With two out and nobody on in the first inning, the 6-foot-1 shortstop hammered the first pitch he saw from righty Gary Gill Hill (TB No. 26) for a solo homer.
Four frames later, he mashed another, this time pulling an offering from right-hander Andrew Lindsey over the wall in left. Bonemer finished the night 3-for-5.
After slugging 12 roundtrippers last year, Bonemer has upped the ante in his sophomore campaign. He earned a promotion to Double-A on June 16 after mashing 18 homers in 61 games at High-A, and, since the move, has hit three homers in 16 contests while competing against pitchers four years older than him on average.
In addition to the homers, Bonemer is pacing the system in extra-base hits (39) and total bases (152). He also ranks third in hits with 70. All told, the 2024 second-rounder is slashing .247/.380/.537 across 77 contests.

With Chicago teeming with shortstop talent -- and holding the No. 1 pick in this year's Draft -- Bonemer's defensive home could change by the time he reaches the bigs. The bat, however, looks like it will play no matter what.
