Astros set alternate site roster
Corpus Christi to serve as the Astros alternate site
HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros have set their 28-man Alternate Site roster, which includes 15 pitchers and 13 position players. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager James Click.
To set the roster, the Astros made a series of minor league roster moves. The Astros placed OF Bryan De La Cruz on the Minor League Injured List with a lower left leg laceration. C Lorenzo Quintana and IF Grae Kessinger were added to the Development List. Clubs may place healthy Minor League players on a newly created Minor League Development List for any non-disciplinary reason. The Development List is an Inactive List, and the minimum period of inactivity for a player on the Development List shall be seven days.
Houston’s Alternate Training Site to begin the 2021 season will be at Whataburger Field, the home of the Corpus Christi Hooks, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Whataburger Field was the Astros Alternate Training Site in 2020.
The Astros Alternate site team will hold their first official home series at Whataburger Field from April 12-13 vs. the Round Rock Express. They will travel back to Round Rock for a second series from April 19-20. The final series will take place from May 2-3 in Corpus Christi/Sugar Land vs. the Round Rock Express.
