Director, Sports Medicine and Performance
Dr. Brad DeWeese, CSCS*D enters his first season with the Houston Astros as Director of Sport Medicine and Performance after joining the organization from Penn State, where he served as Director of Player Performance.
Prior to his time in State College, DeWeese was Director of High Performance for the New York Jets, overseeing integrated performance systems across strength and conditioning, sport medicine, sports science, and athlete development.
Brad has also worked extensively with Team USA in multiple high-performance roles, including Head of Physiology for the Winter Division, supporting athletes who earned nearly two dozen Olympic and World Championship medals, including six world titles.
He holds a doctorate in education and leadership from North Carolina State University, a graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics from Western Carolina University, and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Western Carolina University.
Uniquely Brad has held tenured-faculty appointments at ETSU and Penn State where he has led research and the authorship of well over 50 scholarly publications, chapters, and book.
DeWeese and his wife, Jenny Lind, have four children: Addalyn, Brinley, Harlow, and Axton.
