Jump, A's No. 3 prospect, dazzles to extend scoreless streak

After a bit of a shaky start to his first stint in Triple-A, is starting to find his footing.

The Athletics’ No. 3 prospect (MLB Pipeline’s No. 41 overall) delivered seven scoreless innings in his start Wednesday, striking out nine and extending a scoreless streak to 11 innings across his past two starts. Las Vegas, however, couldn’t get him the win, allowing six runs in the ninth inning of a 6-5 loss to Albuquerque at Las Vegas Ballpark.

Jump, who has seen his walk rate increase quite a bit early in 2026, did not issue any free passes in Wednesday’s gem. He lowered his ERA to 4.50 in the process -- 2.75 in May.

Jump had everything working as he racked up his nine punchouts, but his 60-grade fastball was the key. He earned five K’s on the pitch, and it maintained its velocity throughout the outing, topping out at 97 mph in the seventh. The 23-year-old lefty was also aided by three successful ABS challenge overturns for strikes and one strikeout on a batter’s pitch clock violation.

Jump managed to escape a first-and-third jam in the first inning thanks to a one-out double play, and it was smooth sailing from there. An Albuquerque runner reached scoring position just once more with Jump on the mound, a double in the second inning.

While Jump’s walk numbers have plummeted in recent outings, he’s also leading A’s prospects with 56 strikeouts across 38 innings.

The 73rd overall pick in the 2024 Draft out of LSU soared to Double-A in his professional debut in 2025, and he’s picking up steam again in 2026.
