No one in baseball has been better at reaching base this season than Mike Sirota.
Going 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored on Friday night, the Dodgers' No. 2 prospect extended his on-base streak to 67 games during Tulsa’s 10-5 win against Wichita at Equity Bank Park. It’s the longest single-season on-base streak since Andrew Velazquez reached base safely in 74 consecutive Minor League games back in 2014.
Initially held off the base paths in his first two at-bats, Sirota eventually reached base in the top of the sixth, grounding a first-pitch fastball from Zach Vennaro (Twins) into center for a single.
MLB’s No. 11 prospect has seldom put first-pitch offerings into play this season, but when he has, he’s hitting an exceptional .514.

Following the base knock, Sirota capped his historic night by reaching twice more just for good measure -- on a hit-by-pitch in the seventh and a four-pitch walk in the eighth.
Working free passes has been at the center of the 23-year-old's lengthy on-base streak. Since the streak started back on April 8, Sirota has walked 67 times, tied for the fifth-most in the Minors. For the season, his 72 walks are the most in the Dodgers' system.
His .495 on base percentage during this stretch is the highest in MiLB.
