Catastrophic fires are burning through California, causing unprecedented damage and claiming many lives while displacing countless more.

The A's are doing their part to provide some relief.

With so many of their Northern California neighbors badly hurting, the A's set out to raise funds to help further along recovery efforts, committing $10,000 and encouraging the baseball community to join forces to do the same.

Fans have followed in droves, honoring the spirit of Thanksgiving by nearing that same total this week.

The A's Community Fund has promised to donate all proceeds to the American Red Cross of Northern California to aid these relief efforts. The humanitarian organization provides essential services, including shelter, food distribution and health care. The non-profit group is also responsible for fielding hundreds of thousands of volunteers and staff to assist with rescue efforts. While their work continues, the need for monetary donations increases dramatically.

The Camp Fire broke out on Nov. 8, destroying the town of Paradise and ravaging much of Butte County. Still yet to be contained -- best-case scenario, per reports, is that this could happen by the end of the month -- it has already been deemed the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in state history, destroying more than 10,000 homes and scorching roughly 150,000 acres.

The death toll, meanwhile, has steadily climbed, rising above 75 earlier this week while nearly 1,000 people remain missing.

All donations through the A's campaign are tax deductible. To make a contribution, visit their GoFundMe page.

Last year, the A's teamed up with the Oakland Raiders, Golden State Warriors and the local community to help Oakland heal from the ruinous Ghost Ship fire, combining to raise $750,000 for the American Red Cross.
