Home Plate Project

As we sought to help our communities stricken by the pandemic, what started out as an idea to provide a few hundred meals a week from the Los Bravos food truck in an effort to support hunger reliefs initiatives in the city, blossomed into a full-scale food service and meal prep operation leveraging all of the food originally purchased for home games to re-deploy thousands of pounds of food in “storage” and direct it to meet the most urgent needs in our communities.

Our Home Plate Project team traveled to Tennessee and Alabama, and across Georgia to feed those on the frontlines at hospitals fighting COVID-19. Meals were distributed to those impacted by tornadoes, by joblessness and homelessness in Atlanta and across Braves Country. Thanks to the team efforts of Chef Pete, Chef Rory, our logistics guru, Fritz and the small but mighty team at Delaware North Sportservice along with 110 Braves front office volunteers. With the support of corporate partners Chick-fil-A and Tropical Smoothie and through our community partner distribution channels, we were able to provide almost 95,000 meals to individuals and families through 20+ community organizations serving those in need.

Thank you to the teams at GoodR and Second Helpings Atlanta for the work they are doing in the food recovery and redistribution space. And a very special thanks to Westrock and the Global Center for Medical Innovation for providing PPE to our hospital partners coming through like champions in such critical times.

Finally, THANK YOU for all of your support of the Home Plate Project.
