On Saturday, August 29, baseball meets the great outdoors for the second annual Hunting & Fishing Night at Truist Park, presented by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Realtree! Join us in The Battery Atlanta before the game as we bring the natural world to life! Designed for fans of all ages, these outdoor education experiences create an interactive journey into Georgia’s wild side. From Georgia’s lake and rivers, to the mountains and forests, the Georgia DNR is here to show fans how accessible, educational and exciting Georgia’s outdoors are.
Gate Giveaway: Realtree APX® Camo Braves Jersey featuring Braves and MLB Hall of Famer, Chipper Jones’ name and number for the first 15,000 fans through the gates.
Free pregame activities in The Battery Atlanta, courtesy of Georgia Department of Natural Resources, will include:
- Aquarium Trailer: Large mobile aquarium filled with native Georgia freshwater fish.
- Gateway to Fishing Program trailer: showcasing the gear and fishing opportunities across metro Atlanta area in partnership with local municipalities or community groups
- Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Trailer: Aquatic Nuisance Species Program has a trailer filled with displays of non-native aquatic species for the public to learn about and report.
- Animal Ambassadors: Live animals on site with opportunities for fans to meet and greet. Native Georgia wildlife for this event would include snakes, tortoises, turtles, frogs, and alligators.
- Skulls, Skins, and Fish ID: Mammal pelts and skulls will be on display for public interaction.
- Inflatable Archery Space: Inflatable archery booth gives the public an opportunity to try shooting a bow and Velcro arrow.
- License Sales: License sale staff will be available for people interested in purchasing their hunting, fishing license, or renewing their license before it expires.
- Exploration station: Use scientific observation to explore species featured in the State Wildlife Action Plan and discover their unique adaptations.
- Georgia’s Law Enforcement Off the Pavement: Explore how Georgia’s Law Enforcement Division protects people, property, and natural resources beyond the roadways. Visitors can view specialized field equipment, including a patrol vessel, a K-9 unit, and an ATV.
- Explore Georgia’s Coast: “Touch Tank” featuring horseshoe crabs; Explore a reef via VR goggles
- Hear from Park Rangers about Georgia’s state parks
