Giancarlo Stanton, Ryan Weathers, Aaron Judge, Max Fried and Ryan McMahon, Yankees
Stanton, already dealing with a right calf strain, recently strained his left calf and may miss the rest of 2026, per manager Aaron Boone.
Weathers was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 23 with a low-grade left forearm flexor strain. The club is optimistic that he'll return this season.
Judge (stress fracture in ribs) hit off a tee on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 at Yankee Stadium, Boone said.
Fried (left elbow bone bruise) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session on Aug. 22 at Yankee Stadium. A return within the minimum 15 days remains in play.
McMahon was placed on the 10-day IL on Aug. 21 with a Grade 2 left thumb sprain. The Yankees are hopeful he could return as soon as he is eligible.
Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pages, Will Smith, Tyler Glasnow, Edwin Díaz and Justin Wrobleski, Dodgers
Ohtani (left knee inflammation) threw 30 pitches in his first live batting practice session on Aug. 22. After one more live session, he could pitch in a game for the Dodgers.
Pages (fractured left hand) is expected to miss at least four weeks.
Smith (neck inflammation) is set to begin a rehab assignment on Aug. 25 with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Glasnow (lower back spasms) will be activated from the injured list to start on Aug. 25 in Atlanta.
Díaz (neck inflammation) underwent an MRI on Aug. 19 that showed no structural damage. He threw a bullpen session on Aug. 22.
Wrobleski (left forearm inflammation) threw a bullpen session on Aug. 22. He will build up as a multi-inning reliever.
Curtis Mead, Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Trevor Story, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Garrett Whitlock, Red Sox
Mead (left wrist fracture) will undergo more imaging on Aug. 24, after which the team will have a better idea of a potential return date.
Crochet is throwing up to 90 feet and increasing the intensity, as of an Aug. 21 update. He hopes to be able to return in a relief role near the end of the regular season.
Houck (torn right UCL/right flexor pronator strain) will throw his second live BP session on Aug. 24 and could soon begin a rehab assignment.
Story (sports hernia) played nine innings at shortstop for Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 22 for the second straight day, going 1-for-4. He will rest on Aug. 23.
Kiner-Falefa (stress reaction in left forearm) played the whole game at second base for Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 22, going 0-for-3 with a walk.
Whitlock (right elbow inflammation) is throwing up to 120 feet as of Aug. 21 and could potentially return as soon as he becomes eligible on Aug. 25.
Brandon Woodruff, Sal Frelick and Abner Uribe, Brewers
Woodruff (right shoulder capsule injury) has healed enough to avoid surgery and is scheduled to begin a throwing program on Aug. 26. There remains a slight possibility that he could return in 2026.
Frelick (right shoulder strain), on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville, is expected to return during the Brewers' upcoming Aug. 25-27 series against the Mets.
Uribe (right forearm flexor strain) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session on Aug. 18 and is trending towards a return as soon as he is eligible on Aug. 26.
Juan Soto and Mark Vientos, Mets
Soto (left calf strain) ran wind sprints on Aug. 14 but had not taken any additional steps forward since then as of Aug. 22.
Vientos (fractured right hand) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Binghamton on Aug. 21.
CJ Abrams and James Wood, Nationals
Abrams (left ankle sprain) had X-rays come back negative but remained out of the starting lineup through Aug. 23.
Wood (left oblique strain) is throwing, running and shagging fly balls, but was still experiencing tightness in his oblique as of Aug. 21.
Brendan Donovan and Bryan Woo, Mariners
Donovan is set to be placed on the 7-day concussion IL on Aug. 23, a day after he was scratched from the lineup after being hit in the head by a baseball in the batting cages pregame.
Woo (right shoulder discomfort) was pushed back from his Aug. 22 start. He is slated to throw a bullpen session. on Aug. 23, after which the Mariners will determine his status.
Masyn Winn, Hunter Dobbins and Andre Pallante, Cardinals
Winn (left thumb injury) appeared as a defensive replacement on Aug. 21 but was out of the lineup for the fourth straight game on Aug. 23.
Dobbins was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 22 with a right flexor strain.
Pallante was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 21 with right elbow inflammation.
Ben Brown, Justin Steele and Matt Shaw, Cubs
Brown (stress reaction in neck) faced hitters in live BP on Aug. 21. He is scheduled to face hitters again in the week of Aug. 24 and could begin a rehab assignment shortly after.
Steele (left elbow flexor strain) also faced hitters in live BP on Aug. 21. He could still return in a relief role sometime in 2026.
Shaw (left hand sprain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Aug. 19.
Luis Arraez and Derek Hill, Phillies
Arraez remained out of the Phillies' lineup on Aug. 23 for precautionary reasons, a day after exiting the Phillies' Aug. 22 game with lower body cramping.
Hill left the Phillies' Aug. 22 game with neck stiffness, but the club doesn't have any long-term concerns.
Ketel Marte, Zac Gallen and Corbin Burnes, D-backs
Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 20 with left knee inflammation.
Gallen (right elbow inflammation) threw 35 pitches in live batting practice on Aug. 19 and is scheduled for a bullpen session on Aug. 22.
Burnes (Tommy John surgery/teres major strain) threw 20 pitches in live batting practice on Aug. 21 and will progress to throwing two innings and roughly 35 pitches in a camp game on Aug. 25.
Griffin Jax, Rays
Jax (right elbow discomfort) worked three innings in a Minor League rehab outing for Triple-A Durham on Aug. 23.
Andrés Giménez and Josh Smith, Blue Jays
Giménez exited in the fourth inning on Aug. 20 with right hamstring tightness. He remained out of the lineup through Aug. 23, but the team is confident he can avoid an IL stint.
Smith was placed on the 10-day IL on Aug. 21 with left hamstring inflammation. The injury is not believed to be serious, but Smith will undergo further evaluation.
Jac Caglianone and Maikel Garcia, Royals
Caglianone (right ankle soreness) was scratched from the lineup on Aug. 23.
Garcia was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain on Aug. 21. His 2026 season could be over, depending on how quickly he recovers.
Casey Mize, Joe Musgrove and Nick Pivetta, Padres
Mize left his Aug. 22 start after 2 2/3 innings with a right ankle sprain. He hopes to make his next start.
Musgrove (Tommy John surgery) threw a bullpen session at Petco Park on Aug. 22 and is trending towards a fourth rehab start during the week of Aug. 24, after which he could be activated.
Pivetta (right elbow inflammation) played catch on Aug. 22 at Petco Park and is slated to throw a bullpen session during the week of Aug. 24.
Konnor Griffin, Pirates
Griffin (torn left ring finger sagittal band) took swings on Aug. 21 and reportedly felt good.
Spencer Steer, Graham Ashcraft and Brandon Williamson, Reds
Steer (right wrist sprain) is increasingly unlikely to return in 2026, as after his most recent examination he is not expected to resume swinging until at least Oct. 1.
Ashcraft (right UCL sprain) threw his third live batting practice session against hitters at Triple-A Louisville on Aug. 22 and is scheduled to pitch again on Aug. 25, Aug. 28 and Aug. 30.
Williamson (left shoulder fatigue) made his fifth rehab appearance on Aug. 22 with Triple-A Louisville, allowing one run on two hits and four walks in four innings and striking out five.
Joe Ryan, Twins
Ryan (mild left glute strain) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session at CHS Field in St. Paul on Aug. 22, incorporating all his pitches.
Keider Montero, Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter and Parker Meadows, Tigers
Montero will be given a few extra days of rest after not recovering as expected from his Aug. 18 start against the Pirates. If all goes well, he could return as soon as Aug. 28.
Greene (right hamstring strain) is completing a running, hitting and defense progression at the club's Lakeland, Fla. facility. He will return to Detroit on Aug. 24 to continue ramping up baseball activity.
Carpenter (left foot plantar fasciitis) has re-started his rehab progression as of Aug. 21.
Meadows (concussion, left arm radial bone fracture) is still working on recovering his range of motion after April 2026 surgery and is not swinging at full speed. A 2026 return has not been officially ruled out.
Félix Bautista, Orioles
Bautista (right shoulder surgery) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake on Aug. 23.
Rhys Hoskins, Guardians
Hoskins (lower back inflammation) received treatment and is "doing better, already on the mend," Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said on Aug. 22.
Wade Meckler, Nolan Schanuel and Yusei Kikuchi, Angels
Meckler was placed on the 7-day concussion IL on Aug. 22.
Schanuel was placed on the 10-day IL on Aug. 22 with a right intercostal muscle strain.
Kikuchi (left shoulder inflammation) will make his next start with the Angels, possibly on Aug. 23 in Texas.
Kyle Freeland, Hunter Goodman and Jose Quintana, Rockies
Freeland, who left his Aug. 19 start with neck stiffness, played long toss on Aug. 22. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next start on Aug. 25, but that depends on how he feels during an Aug. 23 bullpen session.
Goodman (left shoulder strain) has practiced throwing at Coors Field on Aug. 21-22 and has taken swings in the batting cage.
Quintana (left elbow sprain) faced hitters for 25 pitches on Aug. 22 at Coors Field, using all of his pitches. He expects to go to the team's complex in Scottsdale, Ariz., and get some action under game conditions.
Jacob Wilson, Nick Kurtz and Tyler Soderstrom, Athletics
Wilson (left shoulder soreness) was placed on the 10-day IL on Aug. 21 and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season. He will be seen by a doctor on Aug. 25 to determine his next steps.
Kurtz (right thumb strain) was transferred to the 60-day IL on Aug. 21, effectively ending his 2026 season.
Soderstrom (left hip impingement) underwent season-ending hip surgery on Aug. 21.
Jake Burger, Rangers
Burger exited the Rangers' Aug. 22 game after being hit in the left forearm/wrist area with a 95.1 mph sinker in the third inning.
Marcelo Mayer, Jesus Rodriguez and Keaton Winn, Giants
Mayer (bone stress reaction, left ulna) remains on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento but will not play the weekend of Aug. 21 due to a right foot bone bruise. He will be re-evaluated.
Rodriguez (right elbow neuritis) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 23.
Winn was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 20 with right elbow neuritis.
