Ranger Suarez, Willson Contreras, Anthony Seigler and Connelly Early, Red Sox
Suarez was placed on the 15-day injured list on July 9 with a left groin strain.
Contreras (left foot contusion) and Seigler (right trap contusion) both left the Red Sox's July 8 game in Chicago in the third inning. Contreras was out of the starting lineup on July 9 while Seigler was in the lineup, batting leadoff.
Early (left elbow inflammation) will be getting a second opinion during the week of July 7 with Dr. Keith Meister in Arlington, Texas, after undergoing an MRI.
Kyle Harrison, Brandon Woodruff, Logan Henderson, Brandon Lockridge, David Hamilton and DL Hall, Brewers
After grinding through the fourth inning of Milwaukee's 5-1 loss to the Cardinals on July 8, Harrison informed the club of some soreness on the outside of his left elbow that was affecting his ability to finish pitches.
Woodruff underwent an MRI that revealed a new injury to the anterior capsule in his right shoulder, the same injury that required surgery in October 2023. He is seeking a second opinion from Dr. Keith Meister.
Henderson (low back strain) will be activated from the injured list to start on July 9 against the Cardinals.
After recent imaging revealed torn cartilage in his kneecap, Lockridge (right knee laceration) underwent arthroscopic surgery on June 25 that pushed his expected return from late June to late July.
Hamilton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain on July 7 after undergoing an MRI.
Hall (left pectoral strain) is currently throwing bullpen sessions. His first live batting practice session is scheduled for July 16.
Ronald Acuña Jr. and Robert Suarez, Braves
Acuña (Grade 1 left hamstring strain) is likely to begin a rehab assignment during the All-Star break, Braves manager Walt Weiss said July 8.
Suarez (right forearm inflammation) hasn't resumed throwing, but there's still hope he could return before the end of July.
Byron Buxton, Twins
Buxton (right hip strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 7, two days after aggravating his existing right hip impingement on an attempted steal in the first inning.
Konnor Griffin, Pirates
Griffin (torn sagittal band in his left ring finger) is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks after being placed on the IL on July 7. He originally suffered the injury while attempting to make a diving play in the third inning on July 5.
Owen Caissie and Janson Junk, Marlins
Caissie will be placed on the injured list on July 9, a source told MLB.com. He left the team's game on July 8 before the top of the second inning with right calf tightness, which he initially felt on July 7.
Junk (right shin bone inflammation) will be activated from the injured list to start July 9.
Jeremy Peña, Lance McCullers Jr., Ronel Blanco and Bennett Sousa, Astros
Peña (left calf strain) remains on track for a July 10 return. He went 0-for-3 for Triple-A Sugar Land on July 8 after going 1-for-4 with a double on July 7 in his first rehab game.
McCullers (right rotator cuff impingement) made his third rehab start on July 7, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks in four innings for Triple-A Sugar Land.
Blanco (torn right UCL) is a candidate to start the Astros' July 12 series finale after pitching two perfect relief innings for Triple-A Sugar Land on July 7.
Sousa (left elbow inflammation) threw 16 pitches (11 strikes) in one hitless inning on July 8 at Triple-A Sugar Land, allowing one unearned run.
Max Fried and Giancarlo Stanton, Yankees
Fried (left elbow bone bruise) threw 36 pitches in live batting practice on July 5. He will throw another live BP session on July 11 at Double-A Somerset.
Stanton (right calf strain) still hasn't resumed running since suffering a setback but has been able to increase his treadmill work.
Tim Herrin, Guardians
Herrin left the Guardians' July 8 game after being hit on the left elbow by a line drive.
Edwin Díaz and Kiké Hernandez, Dodgers
Díaz (loose bodies in right elbow) threw live batting practice for the second time on July 8. He is getting closer to starting a rehab assignment.
Hernandez (left oblique strain) has resumed taking live at-bats, one of his final boxes to check before beginning a rehab assignment.
Grayson Rodriguez, Angels
Rodriguez (lower back tightness) threw 5 1/3 innings in a July 4 rehab start for Triple-A Salt Lake. He could return to the rotation before the All-Star break.
Jameson Taillon, Justin Steele, Edward Cabrera, Daniel Palencia, Phil Maton, Hunter Harvey and Matt Shaw, Cubs
Taillon (left hamstring strain) threw 45 pitches over 3 1/3 innings in a July 5 rehab outing with High-A South Bend. The plan is to have him make one more rehab start, but he could be activated before the All-Star break if a need arises.
Steele (left elbow flexor strain) met with Dr. Keith Meister on July 7, gaining clearance to keep building. He aims to throw off a mound during the first week of August.
Cabrera (left hamstring/adductor strain) has resumed throwing, plus light running and agility work, as of July 7. He might throw off a mound before the All-Star break.
Palencia (mild right elbow flexor strain) had resumed playing catch as of July 7 and could be back on a mound around the All-Star break.
Maton (right knee tendinitis) threw 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts in a rehab outing for Triple-A Iowa on July 8, throwing 13 of his 15 pitches for strikes. Manager Craig Counsell said Maton will likely have at least one more rehab appearance.
Harvey (stress reaction near right triceps/shoulder) has resumed a throwing program in Arizona, as of July 8, but his timetable for return remains unclear.
Shaw (left hand sprain) will not return before the All-Star break after experiencing symptoms while attempting to swing a bat, per a July 7 update.
Nick Kurtz, Athletics
Kurtz exited the Athletics' July 8 game in Detroit in the second inning due to an illness. He is day to day.
Dillon Dingler, Jackson Jobe, Gleyber Torres, Justin Verlander, Javier Báez and Wenceel Pérez, Tigers
Dingler left the game on July 8 after taking a foul tip off his right thumb. Initial X-rays were negative, but the Tigers will wait for further examination on July 9 before deciding how to proceed.
Jobe (Tommy John surgery) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on July 7, completing 1 1/3 innings on 32 pitches (24 strikes), allowing an earned run on two hits and striking out one.
Torres (left oblique strain) is completing a running, defense and hitting progression, per a July 7 update.
Verlander (left hip inflammation) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on July 9.
Báez (right ankle sprain) is completing a return-to-play hitting, defense and running program, as of July 7.
Pérez (left orbital fracture) rejoined the Tigers and started a hitting progression on July 7.
Munetaka Murakami, White Sox
Murakami (right hamstring strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on July 7, going 2-for-7 with a double in his first two games.
Jacob deGrom, Josh Jung, Wyatt Langford and Jordan Montgomery, Rangers
deGrom left his July 7 start after five innings with lingering left hip/leg soreness. He was not overly concerned and expects to be able to make his next start.
Jung (knee discomfort) was out of the lineup for the third straight game on July 8 but was available off the bench. He ran, hit and fielded on July 8 to test the effects of acceleration and deceleration.
Langford (left hamstring strain) took live batting practice on July 8 after running the bases and doing defensive drills on July 7. He could return before the All-Star break.
Montgomery (Tommy John surgery) tossed three scoreless innings for Triple-A Round Rock on July 7 in his fourth rehab start, scattering five hits and striking out three without issuing a walk.
Julio Rodríguez and Brendan Donovan, Mariners
Rodríguez (concussion) did not travel with the Mariners to Miami.
Donovan (left groin strain) is expected to begin a Minor League rehab assignment in the near future, as of July 8.
Max Scherzer, Blue Jays
Scherzer (back spasms) made his second rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on July 8, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits and striking out five in four innings.
Hunter Goodman, Rockies
Goodman (left hand contusion) was not in the lineup on July 8 for the second straight game but pinch-hit in the eighth inning.
Jeremiah Estrada and Samad Taylor, Padres
Estrada (right knee inflammation) has resumed throwing bullpen sessions -- albeit with no plan for a rehab stint yet.
Taylor was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 8 with a right oblique strain. He was sent for further testing to determine the grade of the strain.
Ke'Bryan Hayes and Tony Santillan, Reds
Hayes (lumbar bulging disc) went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run and three runs scored in his second rehab game for Triple-A Louisville on July 8.
Santillan (left oblique strain) underwent a follow-up MRI on July 8 that revealed 60 percent progress with his healing, manager Terry Francona said. He is scheduled to undergo a PRP injection on July 9 to help speed more healing.
Jake Irvin and Trevor Williams, Nationals
Irvin (right shoulder strain) faced batters on July 8 for the first time since being placed on the injured list on May 24.
Williams (right elbow sprain) threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in a rehab start on July 8 for Triple-A Rochester, allowing two hits and striking out two.
Ryan Helsley, Orioles
Helsley was placed on the 15-day IL on July 3 (retroactive to June 30) with right elbow discomfort. He has undergone an MRI and is seeking a second opinion as of July 7.
