Pina hit in face by pitch, receives five stitches

CINCINNATI -- Brewers catcher needed five stitches in his lip Wednesday after he was struck on the side of the face by a pitch in the seventh inning of a wild, 13-12 win over the Reds in 10 innings.
Hernandez threw a 1-1 slider high and tight, and it appeared to glance off Pina's left shoulder before hitting his jaw. Pina was bleeding at home plate before walking to the dugout with an athletic trainer.
"Everything is good with Manny," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "He did get five stitches. He has a laceration in his lip. No concussion, nothing like that. We dodged one there. He's just day to day."
The hit-by-pitch started a game-tying Brewers rally. took Pina's place at first base and scored on 's long double to cut the Brewers' deficit to 10-9. then tripled for a 10-10 tie, giving Yelich five hits and the first cycle for a Brewers hitter since in 2011. And in the 10th inning, it was Kratz who singled home the game's decisive insurance run.
