Major League Baseball announced the 30 club nominees for the 2020 Roberto Clemente Award, an annual recognition of the MLB player who best represents the game through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field. This year’s nominee is Eduardo Escobar, his second nomination.
Past Hispanic Heritage celebrations have included Los D-backs Street Fiestas with live music, authentic food, and a giveaway for fans as they enter the ballpark.
Throughout the game, mariachis and folklorico dancers can be enjoyed, with piñatas and face painters in the Latino-themed area of Chase Field, La Terraza.
The players and coaches enhance the celebration by wearing the Los D-backs jersey, which has been a part of the team’s uniform selection since 2007. The uniqueness of the jersey includes flags from each of the Latin American countries that have participated in the World Baseball Classic.
The D-backs have hosted a variety of postgame concert performances including Cristian Castro, Grupo Montéz de Durango, Luis Coronel and La Brissa.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have made charitable contributions totaling more than $70 million to non-profit organizations across Arizona including Youth Baseball and Outreach programs that directly support the Hispanic community.
