Mets interested in Arroyo; meeting uncertain

Free-agent right-hander Bronson Arroyo is set to meet with the Mets and general manager Sandy Alderson next week, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

The website said Alderson was in contact with Arroyo's representatives on Wednesday to meet with the pitcher at his Tampa, Fla. home.

However, Newsday reporter David Lennon tweeted that the Mets do not currently have plans to meet with the right-hander.

The 36-year-old Arroyo went 14-12 with a 3.79 ERA last season with the Cincinnati Reds.

Arroyo, a 14-year veteran, has logged the third-most innings in the Majors since 2005 with 1,895 2/3 innings. In his career with the Pirates, Red Sox and Reds, Arroyo is 138-127 with a 4.19 ERA.
