Mets invite first baseman Allen to spring camp
New York signs slugger, who played last year in Triple-A, to Minor League deal
The Mets signed first baseman Brandon Allen to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training on Tuesday.
Allen, 27, played last season with the Padres' Triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League, hitting .267 with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs.
Allen last appeared in the Majors in 2012 with the A's (three games) and the Rays (seven games). He has also played with the D-backs, and he sports a career .203/.290/.375 line with 12 homers in 116 Major League games.
