Play Ball Field
Improvements have been made to the Play Ball Field located in Gallagher Square to be more maintenance-friendly and provide greater long-term durability for Petco Park’s expansive event schedule.
Upgrades include replacing the natural surface with a state-of-the-art artificial surface and more than 6,800 square feet of new turf with clay-colored base paths and a pitchers’ mound provided and installed by Tough Turtle Turf. A new, easily removable fence will also be installed surrounding the Play Ball Field presented by Gallagher.
During most Padres home games, kids can swing for the fences on the Play Ball Field by Gallagher.
Fun Fact: the score on the Play Ball Field scoreboard is from Game 2 of the 1984 World Series - the only World Series game the Padres have won.
