Graduated from Millikan High School (Long Beach, CA), where as a senior in 2016 he was the Long Beach Press-Telegram's Dream Team Player of the Year, a member of CalHiSports.com's All-State first team and Moore League Co-Player of the Year (.438, 9 2b, 3 3b, 15rbi)...in 3 seasons at the University of Oregon (2017- 2019) established school career records for RBI (129), multi-hit games (37) and longest hitting streak (18g)...Following his 2019 junior season was named to the All-Pac-12 Conference first team and to the All-Pac-12 Defensive Team after leading the Ducks in hitting (.349), hits (75), RBI (57), doubles (13), slugging percentage (.502) and on-base percentage (.456)...during 2020 COVID quarantine returned to Oregon to complete his degree in social science...in the summer of 2018 played for Orleans in the prestigious Cape Cod League (35Gg .304, 9 2b, 5hr, 25rbi).

On 8/2 was acquired from the Twins, along with IF Christian Encarnacion-Strand and LHP Steven Hajjar (rhymes with badger), for RHP Tyler Mahle...Played in Major League Baseball's SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Dodger Stadium...Made his 27 starts for the Reds at 1B (9gs), 2B (4gs), 3B (12gs) and DH (2gs)...Was promoted on 9/1, when rosters expanded, and in a start at 3B made his Major League debut in the next night's 3-2 walkoff win vs Col...Made his first start at 3B and his second at 1B to become the third Reds player since 1900 to make his first 2 Major League starts at different positions, joining Joe Adcock in 1950 (1B, LF) and Adam Dunn in 2001 (LF, RF)...No Reds player ever began his career by making his first three starts at three different positions...Bal's Gunnar Henderson earlier in 2022 made his first 3 Major League starts at three different positions (3B, SS, 2B)...In his debut on 9/2 vs Col walked, homered (off Kyle Freeland), walked and doubled to become just the fourth Reds batter since 1900 to reach base 4 times in his Major League debut, the first since Jay Bruce reached base five times on 5/27/08 vs Pit...Became only the third Reds player in the expansion era to reach base safely in each of his first 4 plate appearances, the first since D.T. Began professional career with Rookie-Level Elizabethton where he played 20 games from June 22 to July 13 before being promoted to Low-A Cedar Rapids...played in 44 games for the Kernels between July 14 and Sept. 2...combined to hit .280 (70-for-250) with 18 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 33 RBI, 40 runs scored, 34 walks and a .385 on-base percentage in 64 combined games.
