The Arizona Diamondbacks traded LHP Josh Taylor to the Boston Red Sox as the player to be named in the trade that brought INF Deven Merrero to Arizona on March 24.
Taylor, 25, was 1-2 with 5 saves and a 2.81 ERA (5 ER in 16.0 IP) in 14 relief appearances with Single-A Advanced Visalia this season. In 5 Minor League seasons, he is 20-28 with 7 saves and a 4.55 ERA (194 ER in 383.1 IP) in 101 games (62 starts) in the Philadelphia Phillies' (2014-15) and D-backs' (2015-18) organizations.
Taylor signed with the Phillies as a non-drafted free agent on August 12, 2014, and was traded to the D-backs on July 5, 2015, with RHP Chris Oliver and Philadelphia's first international bonus pool slot (No. 9), for Arizona's first international bonus pool slot (No. 1).
