BOSTON -- The Red Sox continued to dominate Orioles pitching on Sunday, as J.D. Martinez went deep twice and Andrew Benintendi added a two-run shot in a 5-0 win at Fenway Park.
Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez was the beneficiary of his team's offense, as he held the O's scoreless over 5 2/3 innings to earn the victory. Rodriguez gave up nine hits with no walks and seven strikeouts, improving his record to 4-1 and lowering his ERA to 4.13.

It was Boston's ninth win in its last 10 meetings with Baltimore, including six of seven this season.
Martinez recorded his eighth career multihomer game and first with the Red Sox. He led off the second inning with a first-pitch homer to left then added a two-run shot in the fifth to tie Mookie Betts for the Major League lead in dingers with 15.

"[Martinez] puts himself in such a good position to hit," said manager Alex Cora. "He's ready for what he wants to hit."
It was the third time this season the Red Sox have scored all their runs in a game on homers. They lead the Majors with 68 homers.
"I lived it last year, how important it is," said Cora, who was the bench coach of the World Series champion Astros last season. "There were a few games that we felt like we don't have a chance and all of a sudden somebody hits a two-run homer, somebody else did too, and all of a sudden you're back in the game. So it feels with us it's the same way. No matter what the score is we're either going to add on or we have a chance to come back, because we have guys that can hit it out of the ballpark."

Boston batted around in the fifth, scoring four runs. No. 9 hitter Jackie Bradley Jr. led off with a double, taking third on Betts' flyout and scoring on Benintendi's fifth home run of the season. After Mitch Moreland's ground-rule double to right, Martinez struck again, this time to straightaway center field.
"We've been playing well," Betts said. "Doing everything well, swinging it well and putting innings together and we've been doing a great job."
After Rafael Devers grounded out, Eduardo Nunez singled, ending Hess' afternoon. Mike Wright Jr. came on in relief, giving up a single to Brock Holt before Christian Vazquez flied out to end the inning.

The Orioles had baserunners in every inning, but Rodriguez, along with Richard Hembree, Bobby Poyner and Christopher Johnson kept them out of the runs column.
"[Rodriguez] pitched great," Betts said. "He put up zeros. That's all we can ask for."
Baltimore threatened in the sixth, loading the bases with two outs. Rodriguez opened the inning by striking out designated hitter Mark Trumbo but then allowed consecutive singles to Danny Valencia and Joey Rickard. After striking out Andrew Susac, Rodriguez's day ended after allowing a single to No. 9 hitter Craig Gentry.
Hembree ended the bases-loaded threat by getting Trey Mancini to fly out.

Baltimore right-hander David Hess, who was called up before the game to make his second Major League start, was the victim this time. The Red Sox tagged him for five runs in 4 2/3 innings.

"They definitely make some adjustments quick and you have to be able to adjust just as quick,'' Hess said. "That's a lineup from top to bottom that can do damage."

Sunday was the third time this season the Red Sox scored all their runs in a game on home runs. On April 20, the Sox beat Oakland, 7-3, when Bradley hit a three-run shot and Moreland added a grand slam. In a 5-4 win vs. the Royals on May 2, Betts launched three solo shots and Martinez ripped a two-run homer.

The Red Sox are off on Monday and face the Rays on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. ET in St. Petersburg. Left-hander Chris Sale gets the start for Boston while Tampa Bay will counter with right-hander Jake Faria. In 70 career games vs. the Rays, Betts is hitting .326 with 12 homers and 39 RBIs.
