FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Right-hander Ivan Nova turned in a strong performance for the Yankees on Tuesday, holding Boston to three hits and one run over four innings, walking one and striking out four, and New York came through with five runs in the eighth to snap a 1-1 tie en route to a 6-3 win.
"Awesome," Nova said. "It was a good outing. Today, again, a lot of strikes. Commanded my fastball. Happy with it."
The Red Sox trotted out ace lefty David Price and closer Craig Kimbrel for the Grapefruit League game, and both marquee additions thrived.

Price gave up three hits and one run over four innings while walking none and striking out six, including Alex Rodriguez twice. He threw 54 pitches, 40 of them for strikes.
"I threw some good fastballs in," said Price of facing Rodriguez. "His first at-bat, I started off with a two-seamer away and I threw a good front-door two-seamer as well. He's a good hitter. He hits the ball all over the plate, all over the yard. You definitely have to be able to mix it up to him, and we did that well today."

Kimbrel took over in the fifth and struck out two of the three batters he faced in a perfect inning. Robbie Ross Jr. surrendered all of the decisive eighth-inning runs.
Aaron Hicks drilled a homer to right-center against Price in the third. Dustin Ackley had two hits for New York.

Rusney Castillo, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez each had a hit for the Red Sox before leaving the game.
Up next for Yankees: With right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on the hill and Brett Gardner in the lineup for the first time this spring, the Yankees play host to the Blue Jays on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. ET. Right-hander Drew Hutchison is scheduled to start for Toronto.
Up next for Red Sox: Right-hander Clay Buchholz gets the start in Wednesday's 7:05 p.m. ET road game against the Twins. Steven Wright, who is fighting for a spot in either the rotation or the bullpen, will also pitch. Setup man Koji Uehara will make his second appearance of the spring.
