Play Ball Weekend

The Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Royals Foundation, and Kansas City Urban Youth Academy will celebrate MLB PLAY BALL Weekend presented by Nike from June 5–7, 2026, with three days of youth‑focused clinics and activities designed to introduce and grow the game of baseball and softball throughout the Kansas City community. All participants will receive a PLAY BALL T‑shirt and a Franklin Bat & Ball set.
Overview:
PLAY BALL Clinic (Friday)
Friday, June 5th Kansas City Urban Youth Academy (UYA), 1622 E 17th Terr Kansas City, MO
We will kick off PLAY BALL Weekend with an invite‑only PLAY BALL Clinic at the Urban Youth Academy, which will also serve as a celebration of RBI. This event is designed for RBI participants ages 5–12 and highlights both baseball and softball participation.
Check‑in will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by programming from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Youth participants will rotate through age‑appropriate activities, with younger participants engaging in a T‑ball clinic, while those ages 8–12 participate in a Wiffle Ball tournament.
This event will mark the conclusion of Junior RBI season and the official kickoff of Senior RBI season, serving as a meaningful transition and celebration for our participants.
PLAY BALL Clinic (Saturday)
Saturday, June 6th Clinic
On Saturday, the Royals will host a free PLAY BALL Clinic designed to introduce children ages 5–12 to both baseball and softball in a fun and engaging environment.
Check‑in will begin at 9:30 a.m., with programming running from 10:00–11:30 a.m. Participants will rotate through skill‑building stations focused on fundamentals, teamwork, and play.
MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Event (Sunday)

PLAY BALL Weekend will conclude on Sunday with a Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition hosted at the Urban Youth Academy. This free event is open to boys and girls ages 7–14 and provides participants the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting, and running skills, with the potential to qualify for advancement to higher levels of competition.
The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with check‑in beginning at 9:30 a.m.
