Royals Minor League report: July 17

Omaha Storm Chasers (44-53)

The Storm Chasers enjoyed the final day of a three-day All-Star Break. They play at Albuquerque (Dodgers) tonight. Lefty Chris Dwyer was the second pitcher for the PCL in Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game. He stranded an inherited runner in the second and pitched a scoreless third.

NW Arkansas Naturals (13-13 2nd half, 38-58 overall)

Tulsa 4, NW Arkansas 3

HR: Rey Navarro (8)

Northwest Arkansas moved ahead in the ninth on Rey Navarro's home run, only to have Tulsa walk off in the home half. Danny Duffy was terrific on the mound as he set a Naturals record with 13 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Duffy allowed a two-run homer in the first. Navarro led Northwest Arkansas with three hits. The Naturals host the Springfield Cardinals tonight.

Wilmington Blue Rocks (14-11 2nd half, 47-48 overall)

Myrtle Beach 4, Wilmington 3

Wilmington dropped game one at Myrtle Beach as the Pelicans plated three in the seventh. Dennis Raben supplied all of Wilmington's offense with a three-run homer in the sixth. Kyle Smith held Myrtle Beach to a run on six hits and two walks over 6.0 innings. He struck out seven, bringing his total to 90 in 98.2 innings.

Lexington Legends (15-9 2nd half, 48-44 overall)

Lexington 6, Rome 2 (10 innings)

HR: None

Lexington scored four in the tenth to win game one at Rome. Fred Ford doubled home Bubba Starling for the go-ahead run. Starling finished 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base. Terrance Gore added three hits, two walks, a run and three stolen bases. He's second in the league with 48 stolen bases. Christian Binford limited Rome to two runs (one earned) and four hits over 7.0 innings. He fanned seven without issuing a walk. Kevin Allen (2.0 IP, 1 H) earned the win and John Walter worked a scoreless tenth.

Idaho Falls Chukars (11-15)

Helena 9, Idaho Falls 5

HR: None

The Chukars fell behind early in a series-opening loss. Helena scored six in the first and two in the second. Carlos Garcia tripled home a pair for Idaho Falls. He joined Humberto Arteaga and Frank Schwindel with two hits.

Burlington Royals (11-12)

Bluefield 4, Burlington 3 (Seven Innings)

Burlington lost the completion of a suspended game, followed by a seven-inning contest. The suspended contest started last week at Burlington and was completed in Bluefield. The Blue Jays built a 7-0 lead with six in the seventh. Ramon Torres was 2-for-4 with two runs in the nightcap. He's batting .313 on the year (25-for-80).

Surprise Royals (8-14)

Surprise Royals 6, Arizona Rangers 4

The Royals won a 'road' game against their complex co-tenants, scoring in each inning from the fourth to the seventh. Alfredo Patino recorded two hits, two RBI and a run. He's batting .381 (16-for-42).
