D-backs' No. 5 prospect Crisantes bringing hot June to close in style with a Double-A cycle

The hot June that Demetrio Crisantes has been having at Double-A just turned into something of a more historic nature.

The Diamondbacks' No. 5 prospect hit for the milestone during Amarillo's 18-4 rout of the Frisco RoughRiders at HODGETOWN. It was the first home cycle for the Sod Poodles since the organization rebranded in 2019.

The day had an auspicious beginning for the 21-year-old shortstop, who lost a seven-pitch battle with left-hander Dylan MacLean (Rangers) by striking out to end the first inning. But everything picked up from there.

With two outs in the third, Crisantes swatted his fourth Double-A homer to left-center, besting MacLean in their second meeting. In the fifth against right-hander Anthony Susac, the 21-year-old smacked a double off the center-field wall, driving in his second and final run of the game.

The following frame, he went back to the center-field wall against lefty Bryan Magdaleno, checking off his triple on a ball that Dylan Dreiling (TEX No. 10) couldn't come up with. And in the eighth, Crisantes only needed to see three pitches from righty Janser Lara before knocking a Texas Leaguer to right field to celebrate his cycle with first base coach Jaime Del Valle.

Crisantes, who scored three times in the series finale, improved his average to .361 and OPS to 1.118 in his 21st game of the season at Double-A. He joined Druw Jones (AZ No. 16) with the second Amarillo cycle this season. Jones achieved his accomplishment April 29 at Midland.

During the 2025 season, Crisantes was on the verge of cracking the Top 100 Prospects list before suffering a posterior labral tear in his left shoulder that required season-ending surgery in May. Across three levels this season, the Arizona native has slashed .340/.448/.650 with six homers, and now, one cycle.
