Twins-Tigers postponed Thursday; twin bill set for Saturday

April 12th, 2024

The Tigers’ divisional clash against the defending AL Central champion Twins will have to wait another day. Rain washed out Thursday’s scheduled series opener at Comerica Park.

The four-game set was scheduled to begin with a Thursday matinee. But with rain in the forecast all afternoon and into the evening, the Tigers moved proactively to postpone the game and set up a traditional doubleheader for Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET, with the second game beginning about 40 minutes after the first one ends.

Tickets for Saturday are good for both games, with no re-entry required. Paid tickets for Thursday’s game can be exchanged for Saturday’s doubleheader or any other Tigers regular-season game in the next 12 months, except for next season’s home opener.

The series will begin Friday evening with a 6:40 p.m. matchup. Tarik Skubal, who had been scheduled to pitch Thursday, will be pushed back to start that game. Kenta Maeda will start the first game on Saturday, and the Tigers will call up Matt Manning to start Game 2. Jack Flaherty is set to start on Sunday.

Pablo López, who had been scheduled to start Thursday's opener for the Twins, will instead start on Friday. The Twins will follow with Joe Ryan in Saturday's twin bill opener and Bailey Ober on Sunday. Minnesota has not yet announced its starter for Saturday's nightcap.
