CHICAGO – ’s first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the 10th off Ryan Rolison, gave the White Sox a 9-8 victory over the Cubs before 38,608 Sunday at Rate Field.

It was the third straight sellout and gave the White Sox a series victory over their Crosstown rivals. This series-deciding win improved the White Sox to 24-22 overall, marking the first time they have been 2 games over .500 since Sept. 22, 2022 when they were 76-74.

Tristan Peters’ three-run home off Phil Maton, his first career homer coming with two outs in the eighth inning, gave the White Sox a 7-4 lead. But after a walk and a Miguel Vargas throwing error, Michael Conforto’s three-run homer off Seranthony Dominguez in the ninth tied the game.

The White Sox fell behind at 3-0 in the first behind Michael Busch’s two-run home run off Erick Fedde and trailed 4-2 after four. But Vargas’ two-run double off Colin Rea, on a drive where Pete Crow-Armstrong almost snagged in right–center before running into the wall, scored Peters and Sam Antonacci with the tying runs.

Fedde allowed four runs on six hits in three innings, but the Cubs going 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position overall kept the game close. Sean Newcomb and Grant Taylor threw two scoreless innings apiece in relief, and Bryan Hudson pitched out of a first-and-second, nobody-out situation in the eighth.
