It didn’t take Jesús Made much time after the break to remind everyone why he’s the top prospect in baseball.
Made posted three hits on Sunday, including a three-run home run, to power Double-A Biloxi to an 11-1 win over Pensacola at Keesler Federal Park. The 19-year-old Made had actually been hitless in his first two games after the return to action, but he certainly exploded back onto the scene Sunday.
After a first-inning lineout, Made opened the game’s scoring with his blast in the third. He went with an outside pitch and crushed it the opposite way to right field. It was Made’s 10th homer of the year and his second in his past five games.
A switch-hitter, Made flipped to the left side in the fourth inning. He flashed the hit tool again with another opposite-field knock, looping a single into shallow left field. It drove in another run for the Shuckers, with Made accounting for each of his team’s first four runs. He then stole second base -- his 27th of the year -- but was left stranded there.

Made grounded out in the fifth and singled to center in the seventh to finish his day. His four RBIs gave him a total of 11 over his past six games.
Perhaps Sunday’s performance will jumpstart Made. He’s hitting just .182 in July, though his season OPS still sits at a solid .795. And despite his youth, the shortstop is second in the Southern League in runs (58), hits (88) and RBIs (64).
