CHICAGO -- White Sox general manager Rick Hahn opened his 30-minute Zoom session Wednesday by updating the recent run of injuries for his team, marking one of the few negatives behind a 7-4 start to the 2020 season.

“I guess winning the equivalent of 16.2 in a row comes at a cost, unfortunately it seems,” said Hahn, whose team entered Wednesday’s action on a six-game winning streak.

Here’s Hahn’s update on the injured players:

Nick Madrigal, second base
Madrigal, the team’s No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, suffered a separation of his left shoulder trying to go from first to third on a Luis Robert single to center during Tuesday’s 3-2 victory. Madrigal hurt his shoulder on the slide. He is going to the 10-day injured list as part of the White Sox moves to get down to 28 players on the active roster prior to Thursday’s game.

“We are optimistic that with some treatment and rehab Nick will be able to return to action for us at some point before the end of this month,” Hahn said. “However, there is the potential at some point, perhaps in the offseason, that he’s going to need a procedure to stabilize the shoulder long term.

“That’s a preliminary estimate. But right now, he’s headed to the 10-day IL. Again, we are optimistic he’ll be able to rejoin us on the field active by the end of this month.”

Edwin Encarnación, designated hitter
Encarnación left Tuesday’s game after wincing on a swing ending in an infield single. Per Hahn, Encarnación has some inflammation in his left SC joint near the sternum and the clavicle, issues that were discovered after he was examined in Chicago on Wednesday. That injury kept Encarnación out of Wednesday’s lineup.

“He received some treatment and he is day to day,” Hahn said. “He will not be headed to the IL at this time.”

Carlos Rodón, left-handed starter
Rodón was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with left shoulder soreness, after leaving his start Monday following two innings. He was examined Wednesday, and the preliminary scans were clean.

“As [manager] Ricky [Renteria] eluded to yesterday, we are optimistic that with some treatment and rehabilitation he too will be rejoining us in the next couple of weeks,” Hahn said.

Reynaldo López, right-handed starter
López left in the first inning during his first start of the season against the Twins on July 26, and he was placed on the injured list with a similar shoulder issue as Rodón on his right side. He is at the team’s alternate training facility in Schaumburg, Ill., on a throwing program.

“He is actually a half-step behind where we were hoping he would be because he did have a couple of days lost to a stomach illness unrelated to COVID,” Hahn said. “That did slow down his rehabilitation, but he, too, we expect to be able to rejoin us at some point in the next few weeks.”

Tim Anderson, shortstop
A right groin strain sent Anderson to the injured list Saturday. He will head to Schaumburg on Thursday to continue his rehabilitation, and the White Sox remain optimistic Anderson will be able to rejoin the team at some point next week after his 10 days on the IL are up.
