CHICAGO -- Prior to today’s series finale vs. Boston, the Chicago White Sox recalled left-handed pitcher Caleb Frare from Class AAA Charlotte, purchased the contract of right-hander Juan Minaya from Charlotte and transferred outfielder Jon Jay to the 60-day injured list. Frare and Minaya take the roster spots of right-handers Carson Fulmer and José Ruiz, who were optioned to Charlotte following last night’s game.

Frare, 25, made the White Sox Opening Day roster and went 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA (2 ER/2.2 IP) in four appearances before being optioned to Charlotte on April 10. He is 0-0 with a 3.72 ERA (4 ER/9.2 IP), one save and 16 strikeouts over eight relief outings with the Knights this season.

Minaya, 28, has gone 2-1 with a 5.51 ERA (10 ER/16.1 IP), two saves and 23 strikeouts in 10 appearances with Charlotte in 2019. He made 52 relief appearances with the White Sox last season, going 2-2 with a 3.28 ERA (17 ER/46.2 IP), four saves, eight holds, 58 strikeouts and a .220 opponents average (39-177).

Jay, 34, has been on the injured list since March 25 with a right hip strain. He is eligible to return from the 60-day injured list on May 27. Jay agreed to terms on a one-year contract on January 10.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster remains at 40.
